Silver Arts – Celebrating Seniors and the Arts
Silver Arts is a month-long festival showcasing the meaningful possibilities seniors have in and through the arts in everyday lives. It highlights the significance of arts engagement as people age, and opens conversations on creative ageing - how the arts foster creativity and social engagement towards enhancing the well-being of seniors and people around them, with imagination and shared experiences. The festival also demonstrates the role of the arts in forging a sense of identity, self-worth and belonging as individuals have access to choices, knowledge and connection to community across generations, cultural backgrounds, and abilities. The festival offers opportunities for seniors to share their stories that shape collective memories and forge stronger inter-generational understanding.
The National Arts Council is inviting proposals from artists and arts organisations to develop and present arts experiences that are senior-centric and support the notion of creative ageing. The proposals could take on a variety of artistic medium (e.g. literary art, performing arts, visual arts, photography and film) as well as modes of engagement ranging from innovative presentations to analogue/digital participatory projects that involve participants as co-creators. Proposals will be considered for Silver Arts 2019 (5-29 September) and 2020 (3-27 September).
Deadline: Friday, 1 March 2019, 11.59pm (Singapore time).
