Benjamin Chee
Benjamin is an arts manager and producer. He was the former director to the Singapore International Festival of Music (2015-16) and assistant festival director to the Peranakan Arts Festival (2015).
Known for his work and focus in world music and cultures, Benjamin produced the opening and closing act for Esplanade’s Tapestry of Sacred Music (2017) and was consultant to Bali Spirit Festival (2016-18). He also produced Soul of Spain (Australia/Singapore), Dance of my life (Brazil/Philippines/Singapore) and other cultural projects.
His engagements with the Embassies of Spain and the Spanish-speaking countries focuses on creating cultural impact in Singapore and the region. Projects include UNESCO World Book Day, respective embassies’ film festivals as well as the Keppel Latin American Film Festivals.
His experiences and work have taken him to the United States, Cuba, France, Spain, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia and in Singapore.
Benjamin holds a first-class Bachelor of Arts Hons from Essex Business School, University of Essex. His studies included Social Returns on investment. Benjamin is also researcher and co-author-contributor of Arts Hats in Renaissance City and The White Papers: Asia Pacific’s Most Creative Cities (Solidiance).
