Producers Unconference: Internationalisation

In November 2023, Producers SG organised with NAC’s Arts Resource Hub #internationalisation: the whys, the what-fors, and the hows, a series of events exploring and unpacking the topic of internationalisation. The line-up of activities included:

  • Field Report: An Introduction to Arts Markets

  • Producing Clinic with Sasapin Siriwanij

  • Producers Brunch & Social

  • Producers Unconference: Internationalisation

The Producers Unconference took place on 4 November 2023, in the Black Box of 42 Waterloo Street. The session was designed and facilitated as a participant-driven space, opening the floor to attendees to digest together the various threads, stories, and reflections, whilst seeding new conversations and discussions about our own contexts and positions and relationships with ideas and practices of internationalisation, regardless of art form, role in the arts, and level of professional experience. Participants included students as well as producers, artistic directors, and arts practitioners from a range of disciplines (including performing, visual, and literary arts), and people at varying points in their careers or professional practice.

Our report provides an overview of the event as well as some key points of discussion and reflections, but is of course not an exhaustive document of everything that was said. We hope this document can serves as a useful reference point for those who were present to return to their memories of what took place, where perhaps future conversations about internationalisation could pick up from where some conversations left off. For those who were not able to be with us on that day, we also hope that this report can offer some provocations for you to reflect on your own relationship with the idea of internationalisation, and where it fits in your practice, and how you might like to go about approaching it.
